The Indian Confederation of NGOs (iCONGO), is extremely passionate about working with PEOPLE, for encouraging social justice through citizen action. On the other end, we work with the PEOPLE SECTOR (i.e. the NGOs which are rapidly losing out on credibility today), to reclaim and preserve public trust for the sector. Mostly managed by JUST VOLUNTEERS (which includes various concerned citizens and a few eminent people from Government, Academia, Literati, Media & India Inc), we sensitise "citizens at large" to come " Be the change you want to see in this world” and go beyond JUST GIVING MONEY (as small donations without looking into impact and accountability cannot change the world). We enable citizens to get involved with credible causes, understand social issues and then make an informed decision about how each ONE of us can BE THE CHANGE WE WANT TO SEE IN THIS WORLD. On the other hand we work with NGOs and ask them to go beyond JUST ASKING FOR MONEY from citizens and to try getting people involved with their work and cause. The BEDROCK of our “RIGHT every WRONG” movement is the philosophy that it, "Better to light a candle than to curse the darkness". Together as ONE to RIGHT every WRONG” is our clarion call for action against apathy.
Our overall mission is based on ONE simple philosophy that “IT IS NOT MINDLESS & ARROGANT CHARITY BUT HUMBLE & INVOLVED SOCIAL JUSTICE THAT IS WANTING IN OUR NATION & WORLD.
The RIGHT every WRONG movement to build citizen action for social justice was conceptualized more than 6 years ago and institutionalized on 26 November 2006. Our constitutional preamble was adopted on this day in 1949, which we the people now promote as the National Citizen Action Day. Over the years various partners have partnered the movement, which includes UN bodies, GTZ, SDC, Global Lives Project, NASSCOM Foundation, EU, BCC&I, FISME, PHDCCI, TISS, and bodies under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment/ Ministry of Home affairs. The RIGHT every WRONG – CITIZEN activism CONCLAVE is a knowledge forum to create “Citizen Thought Leadership” by building mass awareness about socio-political issues. The thought leadership created through this platform, has reached far and wide through our media partners like Tehelka, Business Standard, Business World, Outlook, NDTV, UTVI, News X and various others. This has helped ignite movements for various causes and Media Responsibility, Humane Capitalism, Climate Change , Electoral Reforms & No Criminals in Indian Electorate, Citizens saying NO to corruption, Secularism & Global Peace. Knowledge churned at this platform, has also been used in curriculum by various institutes across the globe which includes Deakin University, ISB, MDI, Xavier’s , Christ University, Brisbane Institute of Strength Based Strategies and the University of Peace. Over the years the conclave has pioneered thought leaderships with eminent and concerned citizens as speakers and patrons, which includes statesmen like Mr. Vasant Sathe, Dr. L. M . Singhvi, former election commissioners like Mr. James Lyngdoh, Mr. Krishnamurthy, business leaders like Ms. Anu Aga, Mr. Arun Maira, Ms. Meera Sanyal, activists like Mr. Harsh Mander, Ms. Shabnam Hashmi, Ms. Maja Daruwala, and various others including celebrities like Princess Francois Sturdza from Switzerland, Ms. Kajol Devgan, Ms Amala Akkineni, Mr. Rahul Bose, Mr. Remo Fernandes, Mr. Gopichand Pullela, Mr. Gregory Roberts (Shanataram) and citizen leaders like Mr. Promod Chawla, Mr. Anant Trivedi, Ms. Tara Sinha, Ms. Manju Bharatram and various others.
